While solar and battery storage won’t completely remove an off-grid lifestyle, investing in these will allow your household to produce energy and consume that energy instead of selling it at a loss and purchasing it back for a higher cost during peak hours.
What’s Actually Involved
Survey. Your roof and your house are unique and our systems will reflect that! We consider the pitch, orientation, and shading of your roof as well as the structural condition. We also consider your current electricity usage. If your roof is shaded and split east-west, we can guarantee it will look and function very differently to a shaded, south-facing roof.
Design. Battery sizes and panel count are determined based on your electric usage and what you’re willing to fill your roof with. We determine what the optimal design is based on whether the system is value-maximizing enough to pay for the space.
Installation. Most home systems are installed within a couple of days. We install everything including the scaffolding, wiring, and necessary permits to notify your District Network Operator.
Handover. We show you how to monitor your system when we come to hand it over. You will be familiar with what normal system performance looks like so you will be ready to detect a performance issue if one arises.
Do you need planning permission?
Most solar panel systems fall under permitted development, meaning that they generally don’t require planning permission. However, if your home is a listed building, if your property is a conservation area, or if you live in a flat, you may need to obtain planning permission. We will inform you during the survey if we think your solar installation is one of the exceptions, rather than assuming so.
Battery Storage
The panels you install to generate solar energy produce the most energy in the daytime. If you have battery storage, you can store the energy to use the energy at night rather than exporting the energy to the grid.
EV Charging
A solar energy system combined with an electric vehicle charging system means that you can even charge your electric vehicle on your own energy, rather than paying a high price for grid energy to charge your vehicle.
After Installation
Solar systems do need maintenance and servicing over time. If you have battery storage, the battery is considered by law to be hazardous waste and must be disposed of as such. We also take care of that as well.
