Batteries aren’t designed to just stop functioning one day and disappear. Under UK law, Lithium and lead-acid batteries are categorized as hazardous waste and must be treated as such. Improper disposal requires more than simply driving to your local waste disposal site.
That’s where we come in. [Company Name] takes care of the removal, transport and disposal of batteries from solar and storage systems. This includes our original installations as well as those from other providers.
The Hazard in Battery Disposal
Batteries are constructed from materials that can become problematic if they are mishandled. Under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations and hazardous waste regulations, they cannot be discarded in skips. For collection, conveyance and disposal the proper waste carrier license must be obtained and the transfer must be documented via a consignment note or a waste transfer note.
Failing to meet these requirements places liability on the property owner in addition to the installer.
